CBZ Forge Privacy Policy

CBZ Forge is made by Tent Studios, LLC. We collect zero data—everything happens on your device.

What we don’t collect

  • No analytics or tracking of any kind
  • No network requests—the app has no network entitlement and makes no connections
  • No accounts or sign-in required
  • No file contents are uploaded—conversion, preview, and optional on-device AI all run locally on your Mac
  • No usage statistics are sent anywhere
  • No crash reports or telemetry leave the device

How CBZ Forge works

CBZ Forge is a native macOS utility for comic files you already own. You choose PDF, CBZ, CBR, ZIP, or RAR files (or folders of them). CBZ Forge reads those files on your Mac, extracts or renders each page, and writes a CBZ archive next to the source or into a folder you pick.

An optional Core ML upscaler (Real-CUGAN) can rewrite page pixels. That path is off by default, runs entirely on-device, and is never labelled lossless.

Everything runs on your device. No data leaves your Mac.

Permissions and sandboxing

CBZ Forge is sandboxed. It can read files you open or drop onto it, and it can write converted archives only where macOS has granted access: the app’s own container (including the bundled sample comic) or folders you explicitly grant through the system open panel. Folder grants are stored as security-scoped bookmarks on your Mac so you are not asked again for the same folder.

The app has no network entitlement, no iCloud access, no access to Contacts, Photos, Location, or the camera, and no background helper processes.

Notifications

If you allow notifications, CBZ Forge may show a local system notification when a conversion batch finishes in the background. That notification is created on your Mac and is not sent to any server.

Preferences stored on your Mac

CBZ Forge stores settings such as output destination, processing mode, window layout, and folder-access bookmarks in the app’s local preferences. These stay on your Mac. Uninstalling the app (or deleting its container) removes them.

Third-party libraries

CBZ Forge bundles libarchive (BSD-2-Clause) as a read-only RAR reader and a Real-CUGAN Core ML model (MIT) for optional on-device processing. Neither makes network requests. Full attribution and license details are available in-app under Settings → General → Acknowledgements.

Children’s privacy

CBZ Forge is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone.
